Engaging Sixth Form Spaces: Colton Hills Secondary’s Student Hub
For Colton Hills Secondary School, transforming their existing sixth form spaces into a modern, vibrant learning environment was a key objective. The refurbishment included a large common room, a student canteen, four classrooms, a study lobby, and a dedicated study room. The goal was to create spaces that inspire collaboration, independent learning, and student engagement while reflecting the school’s identity.
The team at Forward Furniture approached this project with a tailored plan. Our aim was to design, supply, and install furniture that not only met the school’s requirements but exceeded their expectations, balancing comfort, practicality, and style.
From initial consultations to the final installation, we ensured every step of the process was stress-free for the school.
The Design Process
We kicked things off with an in-depth consultation to fully understand the school’s vision. During this stage, we explored different layouts, finishes, and furniture styles that could bring the sixth form to life in a way that aligned with their goals.
To help bring the vision to life, we presented:
CAD visuals showcasing the proposed designs
Fabric swatches to customise the look and feel of the spaces
A range of product options tailored to their needs
This collaborative approach ensured the school had a clear understanding of how their spaces would look and function before installation began.
The Transformation
The project focused on revitalising two key sixth form spaces:
Common Room
We created a versatile hub where students could unwind, socialise, and collaborate. A combination of soft seating and group workstations ensured that the room could be used for both relaxation and productive group work.
A vibrant sixth form common room.
Areas for students to study or relax.
Study Rooms
To support independent and group study, we delivered a variety of furniture solutions:
Study booths with soft seating for focused individual work
Sienna A Frame Poseur Height Tables with Switch Stools for flexible study zones
Tables paired with EN Classic Chairs for collaborative study
Modern study room designed to support independent and group study.
