Upgrading Learning Spaces: Wolverley CE Secondary’s Fresh New Look

Wolverley CE Secondary School wanted to improve key learning spaces across the campus, creating areas where students could study, collaborate, and socialise comfortably. The goal was to make the environment more practical and inviting, giving students a space that worked for both focused learning and downtime.

Forward Furniture stepped in to design, supply, and install furniture that brought this to life. With careful planning and a hands-on approach, we delivered a transformation that met the needs of both students and staff.

From the first consultation to the final clean-up, our team handled every detail, making the entire process a breeze. We know that redesigning your school can feel daunting, but we’re here to make it an effortless and enjoyable experience.

The Design Process

Firstly, we kicked off with mood boards, ideas, and a whole lot of imagination! We collaborated closely with the students and Senior Leadership Team, checking out colour schemes, layouts, fabric swatches, finishes, and every little detail to make the space come alive.

Meanwhile, we created 3D visuals that offered a sneak peek of the transformation, allowing everyone to see the changes to come.

With the plan in place, we focused on upgrading four key areas, each designed with a specific purpose in mind.

Sixth Form Common Room

The common room isn’t just a place for independent learning – it’s a hub for students to unwind and recharge. We set out to create a space that’s as inviting as it is functional, blending modern design with collaborative workspaces and cozy seating to make it a go-to spot for both studying and socializing.

In the Sixth Form Common Room:

  • Sienna Circular Trumpet Base Table with Concrete Effect Top & Deep Teal Base
  • EN Series Chair with Black Shell & Anthracite Frame
  • Harmony 3 Seater Modular Sofa with Aqua Linetta Fabric in Silver & Teal
  • Harmony 2 Seater Modular Sofa with Aqua Linetta Fabric in Silver & Teal
  • Harmony Modular Sofa Corner Unit, Radius Corners & Bench Seats to match
  • Sienna Circular Trumpet Base Table Coffee Table with Concrete Effect Top & Deep Teal Base

Student Canteen

The old canteen was mismatched and uninviting, to give it a fresh look we took inspiration from industrial cafes. With a blend of tables, faux leather chairs, and a breakfast bar with eye-catching contrasting stools, we created an area to eat, chat, and hang out.

In the Student Canteen:

  • Sienna Circular Trumpet Base Table with Concrete Effect Top & Black Base Core
  • Stacking Chair in Faux Leather Vintage Teal with Black Frame
  • Core Stacking Mid-Height Bar Stool in Faux Leather Vintage Tan with Black Frame
  • Concrete Effect Workbench
  • Workbench with Cantilever Leg Glass Whiteboard with Pen Tray

Study Areas

In the study zones, we transformed the space to support both independent and group study, with custom IT benches and comfy seating perfect for laptop and PC work. To make the most of the space, we extended the study area into the lobby, using matching furniture styles to tie everything together seamlessly.

In the Study Areas:

  • Bespoke PC Stations with Full Panel Ends with Concrete Effect Top & White Panels
  • Sienna Circular Trumpet Base Meeting Table with Concrete Effect Top & Deep Teal Base
  • EN Series Chair with Black Shell & Anthracite Frame
  • Sienna Storage 2 Door Cupboard with Concrete Effect Finish & Black Handles

Classrooms

The classrooms needed an uplift to enhance learning and engagement. We upgraded the rooms with sleek new tables and chairs, giving students the perfect blend of comfort and style to keep them focused and inspired.

Forward Furniture took on the full installation during the summer holidays, making sure everything was ready in time for the new school year. The result? Thrilled students and staff who couldn’t wait to experience their revitalized spaces! By involving the students in the planning and design process, we created an environment that wasn’t just aesthetic but a place they felt connected to.

At Forward Furniture, we know that well-designed learning spaces can make all the difference. That’s why we take the time to understand what schools need and deliver furniture that works for them.
